Job summary

Mass General Brigham Incorporated is seeking a Nursing Students Coop PCA trainee to support nursing units within the Mass General Brigham system. The role involves assisting the healthcare team, promoting a safe and caring environment, monitoring vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs under RN guidance.

Prior coop or clinical experience in ICU/ward settings is preferred. Current Northeastern University nursing students (sophomore to senior) are invited to apply for full-time shifts

Job Summary

In order to serve the Northeastern University nursing community better, Massachusetts General Hospital provided a list of Clinical units looking to support a Nursing Students Coop.

The duties of Patient Care Associate Trainee (PCA) include: Assisting the healthcare team; the PCA promotes a safe and caring environment for patients under the guidance of an RN. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Please be aware that units have limited spots available: Emergency Department General Medicine General Surgery Neurology Orthopedics Ortho/Urology Oncology Medical/Oncology Pediatrics Labor & Delivery Inpatient Psych Gynecology/Surgery Cardiac Access Cardiac Arrythmia Step Cardiac Surgical Step Must have previous Coop or Clinical experience for all Intensive Care units, which include: Multidisciplinary ICU Neuro ICU Medical ICU Cardiac Surgical ICU Pediatrics ICU Surgical unit

This will be a full-time position with a requirement of 36-40 hours per week.

Requirements

CPR: Either American Red Cross or and American Heart Association for Health Care Providers is required. Any other provider of CPR certification will not be accepted.

Qualifications

Education Level: Enrolled sophomore to senior nursing students

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS] Experience Patient Care Experience 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• - Understands his/her role in relation to providing patient care activities.
• - Understands hospital, division and unit policies and procedures and utilizes these in providing care.
• - Communicates effectively with the staff and all members of interdisciplinary health care team.
• - Communicates effectively with patients/significant others in providing patient care.
