Job summary

Advantia Health’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Department seeks a full-time Sonographer for our Beltsville office. The role emphasizes excellent patient service, communication, and detailed imaging skills with ARDMS OB/GYN certification or eligibility.

Compensation is based on experience. Responsibilities include reporting, study review with physicians, assisting with procedures, equipment maintenance, and supply inventory management. COVID-19 vaccination is required or an approved accommodation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography.
• ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible.
• Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain within 12 months.
• Completion of OB/GYN ultrasonography program.
• CPR certification required.
• Two years in Allied Health program and one year on-the-job ultrasonography training.
• Maintain ARDMS certification and continuing education credits.

Responsibilities

• Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature.
• Reviews studies with physicians.
• Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Codes appropriate for services performed.
• Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
• Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action.
• Maintains inventory of ultrasound supplies.
• Follows accredited lab protocols for imaging techniques.

Job description

Advantia’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Department is seeking a full-time Sonographer to out of our Beltsville office. To be successful as a sonographer, you should have excellent patient service and communication skills, as well as a MFM Sonographer you must have a keen eyesight and attention to detail and have technical skills, as well as sound judgment and decision-making skills.

Please note compensation is based on years of experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature.
• Reviews studies with physicians.
• Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Codes appropriate for services performed.
• Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
• Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
• Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
• Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
• ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible
• Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided. Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities. Participates in professional development activities and meetings.
• Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.
• CPR certification required.
• Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
• Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
• Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
