Job summary

Axia Women’s Health is seeking a Per Diem MFM Sonographer for Abington Perinatal in Holmdel, NJ. The role requires ARDMS OB/Gyn certification and 2+ years of OB/GYN/perinatal ultrasound experience, including NT and growth scans.

Per diem hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, with strong emphasis on accuracy and patient care. Responsibilities include high-quality ultrasound exams, image interpretation, and presenting findings to the medical team.

Qualifications

• Formal ultrasound education and ARDMS OB/GYN certification required.
• At least 2 years of OB/GYN/perinatal ultrasound experience including NT and growth scans.
• Fetal Echocardiography (FT) certification desirable; FE highly preferable.
• Additional ARDMS Abdomen (AB) certification beneficial.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks EMR is a plus; CPT coding knowledge is a plus.
• Strong documentation skills and pathology recognition during scans.
• Thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Review prior images and reports before ultrasound exams.
• Prepare patients and position for each anatomical view.
• Perform high-quality ultrasound exams including growth and NT scans.
• Evaluate, record and relay findings to physicians.
• Maintain patient records and PACS/EMR workflow.
• Maintain and sterilize ultrasound room and equipment.
• Train other sonographers as needed.
• Adhere to compliance and continuing education requirements.

We are currently recruiting for a Per Diem MFM Sonographer at Abington Perinatal in Holmdel, NJ

Position Summary:

A Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer is a diagnostic ultrasound professional who is qualified to perform independent sonographic assessments of maternal-fetal conditions. A person in this role must be qualified by academic and clinical experience, along with professional credentialing which should include OB/GYN registry, as well as the nuchal translucency/nasal bone certification. Their responsibility is to provide diagnostic patient care services for routine and high-risk obstetrical cases using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. A MFM sonographer must have advanced knowledge in various fetal conditions and anomalies as well as knowledge of contributing high-risk maternal factors. In addition, the scope of practice of the diagnostic MFM sonographer includes those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience. This person must demonstrate competency and must hold the appropriate ARDMS certification(s), which is the standard of practice in ultrasound.

Job Description:

• Reviews any prior images and imaging reports prior to ultrasound exam.
• Reviews and verifies physician’s orders.
• Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.
• Performs high-quality ultrasound examinations including comprehensive growth scans and Nuchal Translucency scans in accordance with approved techniques and protocols, ensuring the transducer (probe) is correctly capturing images.
• Evaluates images for quality and interprets images captured; calculates, compiles and records data from numerical readings and records in patient chart.
• Maintains patient records; adds medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
• Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and healthcare team.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and sterilizes room between ultrasound patients.
• Utilizes PACs, EMR, and other systems related to imaging.
• Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
• Maintains certifications by completing any assigned compliance and continuing education requirements.
• Trains other Sonographers as needed.
• Performs other associated tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Formal education and completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound programrequired.
• Current RDMS certification from ARDMS in Ob/Gynrequired.
• At least 2 years’ recent experience performing OB/GYN and Perinatal ultrasounds including NT and comprehensive growth scans
• Additional ARDMS certification in Fetal Echocardiography (FT)desirable; Previous experience with FEhighlypreferable.
• Additional ARDMS certification in Abdomen (AB)
• Previous experience using eClinicalWorks (EMR) beneficial.
• Knowledge of specific order sets and related CPT coding a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately recognize and document pathology identified in scans.
• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
