Job description

Oversee and ensure legal compliance throughout all employee relations activities, including training, investigations, decision-making processes and follow through. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety Quality Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities
  1. Foster open communication with all plant associates, as well as the corporate office.
  2. Ensure regulatory compliance with corporate policy administration, posting and work rules.
  3. Participate in all major plant initiatives and decisions.
  4. Uphold a culture that supports a union free status (if non-union plant).
  5. Ensure fair and consistent performance expectations and accountability.
  6. Clearly communicate the connection between performance and career opportunity (pay, selection, promotion).
  7. Develop and oversee practices to recognize, reward and appreciate associates.
  8. Champion the importance of the plant's cultural council to strengthen plant culture and conditions; guide activities to promote inclusion, engagement and continuous improvement.
  9. Direct recruiting and staffing practices and ensure candidate quality and timely fill rates.
  10. Oversee successor planning, mentoring and management training within the plant.
  11. Create and communicate compensation plans (hourly wage proposals and stock options).
  12. Communicate and ensure compliance with benefit programs (health and life insurance, leave of absence, vacation/holidays, 401K, educational assistance, Employee Assistance Program).
  13. Foster cooperative interaction with union leaders, stewards and plant management (if union plant).
  14. Lead the safety coordinator on all safety and regulatory issues.
  15. Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  16. Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  17. Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  18. Must be able to work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergens.
Qualifications

Minimum
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources, organizational development, organizational psychology or other business-related field.
- 2+ years human resources experience in food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of plant procedures and policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.

Desired
- Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification.
- Experience managing a plant safety process.
- Work experience in a union plant.
- Work experience in human resources at a manufacturing plant.
