Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality standards.
  • Analyzes workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determines parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals per product specs.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
  • Communicates production capabilities, schedules, or other information to facilitate processes.
  • Confers with vendors to determine specifications and arrange equipment, material purchases, and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Job Summary

Plans, designs, and constructs manufacturing facilities and related structures. Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources, and structural design. Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
