Job summary

Steffes is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to create, revise, and maintain processes across production shop and control orders. You will monitor capacity and capability within the shop and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The role involves developing SAP SOPs, participating in Kaizen and 5S events, and driving productivity through training and concrete project execution on a busy shop floor.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of engineering coursework or related study.
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain manufacturing process definitions using SAP’s SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and BOPs (Basic Operating Procedures).
  • Participate in LEAN events such as Kaizens, value stream mapping, 5S, and VAVE; gather information, complete action items, and follow up.
  • Complete NCRs (Non-conformance requests).
  • Lead productivity improvement projects; implement training and activities and champion completion of projects in a timely manner.
  • Create plant layouts of equipment, flow, storage, and exterior items.
  • Complete time and motion analysis studies.
  • Work in the production shop to learn processes and propose improvements.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere through collaboration with customers, suppliers, coworkers, and management.
  • Support the company in meeting its strategic, quality, and safety objectives.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

Functional & Cognitive Requirements


  • This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.

  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.

  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.

  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.

  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.

  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.

  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.

  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.


Job Requirements/Qualifications


  • 2+ years of engineering courses
