Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking an experienced Metrology Technician to perform precision dimensional inspections in an aerospace or advanced manufacturing environment in Santa Ana, CA.

This role uses CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers, and metrology software to verify that complex components meet engineering and quality requirements; you will program Verisurf and/or PolyWorks and interpret GD&T from drawings and 3D CAD models.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of dimensional inspection experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with Verisurf and/or PolyWorks.
• Experience operating CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers.
• Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers, and precision measurement equipment.
• Program and operate Verisurf and/or PolyWorks metrology software.
• Inspect complex composite and machined parts, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Establish coordinate systems and align parts using CAD models.
• Apply datum-based, best-fit, and iterative alignment methods.
• Generate accurate inspection reports and maintain measurement records.
• Support First Article Inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify and resolve dimensional issues.
• Assist with root-cause investigations and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Maintain metrology equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
• Follow applicable quality procedures, safety requirements, and aerospace standards.

We are seeking an experienced Metrology Technician to perform precision dimensional inspections in an aerospace or advanced manufacturing environment. This position uses CMMs, articulated arms, laser trackers, and metrology software to verify that complex components, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures meet engineering and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong GD&T knowledge, experience working from engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, and proficiency with Verisurf, PolyWorks, or both.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3–5 years of dimensional inspection experience within aerospace, precision manufacturing, or a similar environment.
• Hands-on experience using Verisurf and/or PolyWorks.
• Experience operating one or more of the following:
• Coordinate Measuring Machines
• Articulated arms, such as Faro or Romer
• Laser trackers, such as Faro or Leica
• Strong understanding of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and 3D CAD models.
• Experience generating inspection reports and analyzing measurement data.
• Experience inspecting complex composite or machined components.
• Experience supporting First Article and production inspections.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in metrology, manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
• Formal training in CMM programming and operation.
• Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, or similar CAD software.
• CMM programming certification in Verisurf, Hexagon, or an equivalent platform.
• PolyWorks training or certification.
• Faro Arm or laser tracker training or certification.
• GD&T certification.
