  • Prepare tests and document data in spreadsheets.
  • Identify non-conformances and report them.
  • Provide technical guidance to metrology technicians.

Job description

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible to support the implementation of test methods and procedures needed to determine the dimensional features of products, validation and production inspections of all products produced from manufacturing and assembly processes.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering layouts, drawings and documentation of various levels of components, assemblies and subassemblies using CAD systems (i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks, Orcad).
  • Use measurement methods and equipment to determine whether the dimension features of products conform to the design features.
  • Operate CMM, Vision systems, CT Scanner and tabulate data.
  • Follow test method equipment qualification activities in conjunction with Quality Engineering and Program Management functions.
  • Participate in the selection and management of fixtures.
  • Direct the workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
  • Participate in customer interactions with the Quality Engineering and Program Management functions.
  • Perform inspection and testing of molded components and assemblies for conformance to design and configuration requirements.
  • Compile and analyze measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability.
  • Support Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) studies to evaluate measurement methods.
  • Perform tests and record data on spreadsheets.
  • Identify and report non-conformances of products or processes.
  • Support Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) investigations
Other Activities/Functions
  • Work closely with metrology technicians, production personnel, engineering and other colleagues to diagnose and resolve operational issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to metrology technicians during troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Develop troubleshooting procedures, and standard work and training materials.
  • Participate in shift support initiatives and escalation processes for critical manufacturing equipment.
  • Review machine downtime events and partner with technicians to identify long‑term corrective actions.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation systems for tracking and traceability purposes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product/Mechanical (fixture, etc.) Design or any related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting metrology equipment.
  • Hands on individual for conducting job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in Minitab, SPC Gage R & R (GRR).
  • Experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
  • GD&T
  • Management of large data sets
  • Technical documentation
