Job Details: Job Location: Unitech Composites, Inc. - Hayden, ID, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $25.00 - $40.00Hourly, Job Shift: Day, POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Metrologist to ensure the accuracy and precision of measurement equipment used in our production and quality processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, calibrating, and improving measurement systems to support compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements.

Essential duties:
  • Calibrate and maintain precision measurement instruments, including dimensional, electrical, mechanical, and temperature equipment.
  • Develop and implement measurement procedures and calibration protocols in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100 or other applicable standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty instruments or refer them to vendors when necessary.
  • Maintain calibration records, certification documentation, and traceability logs.
  • Perform uncertainty analysis and statistical analysis to validate measurement systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve measurement-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements regarding metrology and equipment calibration.
  • Train personnel on proper use and care of measurement instruments and best practices in metrology.
  • Participate in audits, both internal and external, related to measurement systems and equipment calibration.
Qualifications: POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Metrology, or a related technical field.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in a metrology or calibration role, preferably in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of measurement science and principles.
  • Familiarity with standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, or similar.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is typically performed in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
  • May require occasional lifting of equipment or working in cleanroom conditions.
  • Occasional travel to vendors or calibration labs may be required.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
  • Certification from NIST, ASQ, or another metrology organization.
  • Experience with CMMs, laser trackers, or other advanced measurement tools.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet applications with an emphasis on Excel required.
Other Requirements:

Ability to perform general math and algebra functions. Manufacturing experience a plus.
