Job summary

NyproMold, a Jabil company, is seeking a Metrology Intern to support routine inspection and measurement activities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will gain hands-on experience with inspection equipment, quality systems, and data collection under supervision.

You will read engineering drawings, perform dimensional checks with precision tools, and enter data into MES while following safety rules and standard procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspection procedures to ensure quality in production stages.

• Inspect molding defects such as splay, contamination, flash, color variation, voids.
• Dimensional inspection using micrometers, calipers, CMM, and other tools.
• Monitor dimensions using statistical quality control methods.
• Enter inspection data into MES system and adhere to safety rules.

Position Overview

The Metrology Intern will support the Metrology team by performing routine inspection and measurement activities to ensure products meet established quality standards. This internship provides hands‑on experience with inspection equipment, quality systems, manufacturing processes, and data collection in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The intern will work under the guidance of the Metrology Supervisor and gain exposure to precision measurement techniques, quality assurance practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to ensure quality levels at various stages of production
• Read and follow visual aides, engineering change notices, or established operating procedures, determine acceptance or rejection of product.
• Select products for inspection at specified stages in production process and visually inspect products for a variety of molding defects such as splay, contamination, flash, color variation, void and shorts.
• Dimensionally inspects product for conformance to specification using measuring devices such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, comparators, fixed gages, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Optical Gaging Products (OGP).
• Monitor dimensions using statistical quality control procedures.
• Perform inspection using high precision inspection and test equipment.
• Work under close supervision of Metrology supervisor or other designated supervisor
• Follow standardized and routine written directions and visual aides for assigned quality assurance inspection operations.
• Visually inspect products using magnifying glass, lot sampling methods, first article checks, and /or AOI machines.
• Enter standardized information into computerized MES system using simple keystrokes to indicate pass or failure of board.
• Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor
• Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Ability to lift and move materials or components weighing up to 40 pounds.

The hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 - $32.00. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
