Job summary

Corning Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking a highly skilled engineer to apply physics and engineering principles to non-contact measurements on Life Science labware and pharmaceutical packaging.

You will lead cross-functional teams to develop and transfer measurement systems to manufacturing. The role requires a BS in engineering/physics, 3+ years in designing measurement systems, and strong optics/image processing experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
• 3+ years designing, troubleshooting, or deploying measurement systems in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with optics and illumination for glass & manufacturing defects.
• Knowledge of image processing algorithms and metrology tools.
• Good engineering practices for alignments, calibrations, and optical design.
• Ability to use risk tools (PPA, FMEA) for decision making.
• Strong project management to plan, track, and deliver within budget.

Responsibilities

• Help design and transfer measurement and inspection systems to manufacturing.
• Lead cross-functional teams to implement new measurement capabilities.
• Define experiments, MSA plans, and validate system performance against standards.
• Collaborate with QA, PE and suppliers to meet specifications.
• Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting for installed systems.
• Support GMP validation and documentation for product quality attributes.
• Coordinate technology transfer to global sites and manage supplier relations.
