Job summary

Team Penske is seeking a Metrology Engineer to join our Mooresville, NC team to expand measurement, inspection, and build‑quality capabilities. You will help define metrology protocols, scanning workflows, and reporting standards that improve accuracy, repeatability, and compliance of our race car builds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of metrology, dimensional inspection, or precision measurement.
• CAD familiarity, Siemens NX preferred.
• Proficiency with structured‑light scanners (ATOS, Hexagon).
• Experience with tactile measurement tools (FAROArm, CMMs, laser trackers, or iGPS).
• Strong GD&T, datum schemes, and alignment knowledge.
• Python for automation, scripting, or data processing.
• Ability to generate clear inspection reports.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules including overtime.

Responsibilities

• Define metrology requirements to support design, assembly, and performance targets.
• Establish datum structures, alignment strategies, and inspection methodologies.
• Lead investigations of measurement discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Develop, standardize, and maintain metrology procedures for components and full builds.
• Design scalable data acquisition, processing, and reporting workflows.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and race operations to drive improvements.
• Provide metrology insights during design reviews and post-event investigations.
• Generate actionable reports to support engineering and quality decisions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field
