Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC, seeks a Quality Technician II to lead advanced dimensional inspection using CMMs and optical systems. You will develop inspection programs from CAD data, interpret GD&T, and mentor junior technicians in measurement techniques.

The role requires strong metrology background, hands-on CMM/optical experience, and the ability to drive improvements in accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in metrology or quality inspection.
• Active experience with tactile CMMs and optical systems.
• Proficiency with CMM/optical software such as Zeiss Calypso.
• Advanced GD&T knowledge for complex aerospace/automotive drawings.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute complex inspections using CMMs, structured light scanners, laser systems, and other metrology tools.
• Develop, optimize, and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD models and drawings.
• Interpret GD&T requirements and advise engineering on measurement feasibility.
• Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances and support root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior technicians in equipment use, inspection methods, and reporting.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers to improve inspection strategies and workflows.
• Drive continuous improvement in metrology accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure inspections comply with internal QMS and FIA regulations.
