The candidate will review customer specifications, perform Gage R&R and MSA studies, and collaborate with NPD/Process Engineers. A bachelor’s degree is preferred with 5+ years in manufacturing quality.

Qualifications

  • Complete NPD quality projects on time.
  • Review customer spec changes and revise docs within designated timeframe.
  • Program automated inspection equipment (Optical Gage Smart Scope, Measuremind).
  • Assist in design and development of fixtures and gages used for inspection.
  • Perform Gage R&R studies and other measurement systems analysis.
  • Perform first article inspections and process capability studies to support manufacturing and development.
  • Work with NPD and Process Engineers to deliver measurement programs with minimal supervision.
  • Perform engineering capability and stability studies.
  • Apply GD&T Y14.5 and other measurement techniques to review design intent.
  • Provide information regarding measurement techniques used on products to customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Lead metrology initiatives at moderate complexity.

Description

The Metrologist II develops, maintains and continuously improves measurement systems and equipment to ensure the quality of products and processes.

The Metrologist is expected to:

  • Complete NPD quality projects on time
  • Review customer specification changes and revise supporting documentation within designated timeframe
  • Program automated inspection equipment (Optical Gage Smart Scope, Measuremind)
  • Assist in design and development of fixtures and gages used for inspection
  • Perform Gage R&R studies and other measurement systems analysis

  • Work independently with New Product Development and Process Engineers to deliver programs and information on the measurement of parts and gages with minimal supervision
  • Perform engineering capability and stability studies
  • Apply GD&T Y14.5 standard and other measurement techniques to review and understand part design intent
  • Assist with providing information regarding measurement techniques used on products to customers and suppliers as needed
  • Lead metrology initiatives at moderate complexity

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in programming a wide variety of measurement systems.
Technical Skills
  • Program Optical Gage Smart Scope products in Measuremind.
  • Program Optical Gage Smart Scope products in Zone3.
  • Program Keyence IM and VR.
  • Program Mitutoyo in MCOSMOS.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret GD&T Y14.5.
  • Statistical software.
