Job summary
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Metering Technician I to install, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain utility metering systems. You will support programming, data applications, and cross‑functional collaboration within Utilities and Energy Management in Austin, TX.
Applicants should have an Associate’s degree in a related technical field and 1 year of metering experience; a Bachelor's is preferred.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate's Degree in a related technical field and 1 year of work experience with utility metering systems.
- Knowledge of power plant and chilling station metering infrastructure and utility processes.
- Familiarity with OPC-UA and data gateways.
- Texas Class C driver’s license and ability to operate university vehicles
- Proficiency with desktop computing systems, multi-line telephones, turbines, boilers and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Metering Technicians and cross-functional teams to resolve metering issues and support data accuracy.
- Operate and maintain metering systems to ensure reliable performance; assist with field instrumentation troubleshooting.
- Support programming, configuration and maintenance of UEM’s metering systems and related data applications.
- Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Follow all safety policies and participate in required safety trainings; wear PPE when needed.
