Job summary
FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Meter Technician A to perform installation, removal, and maintenance of company and customer-owned meters with training provided.
The role includes testing, inspection, and calibration of meters and related equipment, using FieldPro software and communicating outcomes clearly. Candidates must have two-year technical schooling or related experience, pass the TECH test, and meet physical and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of electricity and electronics from technical schooling or related experience.
- Must pass EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) test.
- Safety rules, first-aid and safety compliance are required.
- Must meet physical requirements: lifting, walking, climbing, and working in various conditions.
- Clerical: operate two-way radios, computers, and write legibly for records and briefings.
- Pennsylvania motor vehicle license and knowledge of metering standards.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate or check calibration of meters and instruments.
- Install, remove, read, exchange meters including single-phase, 3-phase, and transformer-rated meters.
- Install and service metering equipment and related devices.
- Perform inspections and maintenance on equipment.
- Carry out tests to ensure proper installation and operation per standards.
