Job summary

FirstEnergy in Waynesboro, PA is seeking a Meter Technician A to perform installation, removal, inspection, testing and maintenance of electrical meters and related equipment. You will work with customer-owned equipment and support field operations under supervision.

The role requires ability to climb, lift over 25 pounds, operate meters and test equipment, and communicate clearly with customers. Training provided; progression toward advanced metering roles is possible.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electricity and electronics as per TECH test and related requirements.
• Ability to safely perform duties and pass examinations to demonstrate proficiency.
• Manual dexterity to operate handheld devices and inputs; lift and carry more than 25 pounds.
• Climb ladders and work in varied weather and terrain.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and check meters and instruments.
• Install, remove, read, and exchange various meter types.
• Inspect and maintain metering equipment and perform standard tests.
• Read schematics/switchboard drawings and troubleshoot installations.
• Instruct and train other technicians as required.
