City of Alexandria is seeking Meter Technician, Gas to perform field service, installation, and repair of gas meters and regulators in the Central Louisiana area.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 2 years of mechanical maintenance/repair experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain state certifications within six months. The position includes on-call duties and a comprehensive benefits package.
The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in the Gas Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana to perform technical tasks to maintain and repair meters and regulators for the City. Acts as the coordinator of the related materials, parts, supplies and equipment inventory. Positions in the Gas Department are subject to 24-hour call.

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in basic mechanical maintenance and repair of meters and related equipment with some experience in purchasing and inventory management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification. Must possess and maintain any state or federal certifications required in the field of assignment.
Gas Department must obtain certifications as required by the Office of Pipeline Safety within six months of hire.
40 hours per week; may work overtime, including holidays and weekends.
