Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) seeks a Meter Technician 1A to repair, test, and calibrate single phase and polyphase meters in the Meter Acceptance Shop and in the field. You’ll inspect connections, test continuity and grounds, and adjust to meet accuracy requirements.

This on-site role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work with metering equipment, tools, and software.

Qualifications

• Experience fixing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
• Possess a current valid Driver’s License.
• Preferred qualifications include a certificate or degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Inspects/validates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and communication components.
• Cleans, reconditions, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
• Verifies register ratios and meter constants.
• Uses test instruments to perform testing and evaluation of associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
• Tests insulation of meters and associated metering equipment, such as switches and transformers.
• Performs meter tests using various tests and computes meter error.
• Adjusts as needed to bring accuracy within prescribed limits.
• Records test results in SCE systems.
