Job summary

Southern California Edison is seeking a Meter Technician 1A to repair, test, and calibrate single phase and polyphase meters in the Meter Acceptance Shop and in the field. You will inspect connections, verify data, and document results in SCE systems.

This on-site role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical skills, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Join us to support safe, reliable energy.

Qualifications

• Experience fixing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
• Possess a current valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Inspects/validates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and communication components.
• Cleans, reconditions, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
• Verifies register ratios and meter constants.
• Uses test instruments to perform testing and evaluation of associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
• Tests insulation of meters and associated metering equipment, such as, but not limited to test switches, phasing transformers, and load survey devices at high potential.
• Performs meter tests using various types of tests and computes meter error.
• Adjusts as needed to bring accuracy within prescribed limits.
• Checks, verifies, and updates meter nameplate data and meter programs.
• Records test results in SCE systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience fixing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
• Possess a current valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and working knowledge with Electronics and/ or Electrical Theory.
• Certificate or Degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering, or education in arelated technical field.
• Experience as a commercial/residential electrician, or in electrical construction.
• Experience working with power tools and hand tools (e.g., socket wrenches, screwdrivers, splicer, wire cutter, etc.).
• Ability to bend and lift assets up to 50 lbs.
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience and proficiency performing advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including performing: VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables, Mathematical Computations, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.
• Experience and ability to perform mathematical computations and algebra calculations to check, verify, and update data.
• Experience and ability tabulating test results and performing computations for statistical analysis from testing data.
• Experience testing and repairing Single Phase and Polyphase Meters associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface customers.

• This position’s work mode ison-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
