In this job, you’ll serve as a senior technical leader within Field Engineering responsible for driving engineering execution and providing expert technical guidance to other engineers, planners and district personnel to achieve strategic and operational objectives. The role influences DSP (Distribution Substation Plan) project direction, resolves complex technical challenges, enhances organizational effectiveness through stakeholder alignment, and strengthens engineering capability through mentorship and knowledge sharing. SE1s lead through technical expertise and execution excellence, delivering safe, reliable, and customer-focused outcomes while partnering with leadership to improve business results.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups.
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborates and leads with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies.
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations.
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases.
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings.
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems.
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Seven or more years of experience in engineering within operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a power emphasis.
  • Advanced proficiency with CYME, MDI, Excel, and Snowflake SQL querying.
  • Advanced knowledge of DSP process including profile cleansing, temperature normalization, and load growth allocation.
  • Experience integrating Distributed Energy Resources onto the grid.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proved customer service experience with strong commitment to delivering responsive, solution-oriented support to customers and stakeholders.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un‑escorted access to assigned work
