Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is hiring a Meter Servicer in Indiana to read, install, test, and repair electric meters up to 260 volts. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid state driver's license, with an online HireVue assessment completed within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities include meter programming, disconnect/reconnect for non-payment, energy-use investigations, and maintaining equipment and records in a safe, efficient manner.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid State Driver's License required.
• Completion of HireVue Meter Servicer Virtual Job Tryout within 24 months of employment.
• 560 hours of on-the-job mentoring and training included.

Responsibilities

• Read meters as required for field orders and cycle billing.
• Install, program, remove, change, disconnect, and reconnect meters.
• Test single phase and network meters for proper operation and accuracy.
• Perform credit and collections related orders including disconnect/reconnect for non-payment.
• Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion.
• Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures.
• Order, receive, ship, and store meters and related equipment.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles and work area; operate related vehicles.
• Maintain records and submit reports as required.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
