Job summary

Jobtailor in Texas is seeking a Meter Technician Specialist to support planning, testing, and maintenance of AEP metering facilities. The role covers EPS inspection, commissioning, and documentation of test records, with leadership duties to resolve conflicts and ensure quality.

You will verify meters, collect data, and assist with commissioning while adhering to safety rules and procedures. A two-year associate degree and relevant experience are required, along with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology is required.
• Two years experience as Meter Technician, Meter Electrician A, P&C Technician, or equivalent.
• Valid state driver license required.
• Must follow safety rules and practices of the Company.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical work supporting the planning, testing, and maintenance of AEP metering facilities.
• Acts as an EPS Meter Inspector and Commissioning Agent at the Technician Specialist level.
• Assist with EPS commissioning, verify basic meter form and wiring.
• Collect and organize test records, configuration files, and updates for EPS packages under supervision.
• Function as a team leader to resolve conflicts and build consensus.
• Demonstrates good knowledge and ensures compliance with standards, codes, regulations, practices and procedures.
• Prepares cost estimates for non-routine work.
• Repairs moderately complex electronic instruments, controls, and equipment in a cost efficient manner.
• Develops software programs related to meter services activities
• Provides support in the daily operation of the repair shop facilities
• Tests, maintains, and operates all types of metering equipment and related test equipment
• Participates in the development of training material and provide training support for internal and external audiences
• Perform duties in accordance with safety rules, regulations, and practices

Requirements
