Job description

* Knowledge of meter requirements and theories.* Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods for applicable metering applications.* Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures related to water and electric metering.* Knowledge of meter testing equipment.* Knowledge of metering technology, applications, and tools used to communicate with smart meters to obtain reads.* Skill in speaking, writing, listening, mediating, negotiating, and conflict resolution.* Skill in operating assigned equipment and vehicles.* Skill in operating laptop computers and related software applications.* Ability to maintain a high level of customer service and customer satisfaction while maintaining production goals.* Ability to work cross functionally with multiple City departments.* Ability to train others and work in a team environment on metering projects.* Ability to recognize hazardous metering conditions in the field and take appropriate action.* Ability to read electric and water meters accurately.* Ability to use various meter testing equipment.* Ability to properly lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.* Ability to carry and grip steel tools, and to grasp, reach, pull, or push meters.* Ability to perform strenuous work in all types of weather conditions.## Preferred Qualifications:* Experience working in an electric or water utility, reading electric or water meters* Experience with residential and commercial electrical installations including disconnecting and connecting electric services* Experience using mobile devices such as a laptop/Toughbook to complete field work* Experience using Oracle Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) 2.3 or similar Workforce Management System* Experience using ladders and power tools to access property locations to complete work order requests* The City of Austin employment application is an official document;***incomplete applications will not be considered.**** The Employment Record should be complete with job titles, employment dates, job duties, functions, and responsibilities for each position held.* Starting salary will be based on overall relevant experience from your application.* **Responses to the Supplemental Questions inquiring about experience should be reflected on application.*** Please be sure to detail on the application all current and previous employment that you wish to be considered as part of your qualifications.* **Résumés will not be accepted and statements such as \"see résumé\" will not be accepted.
