Gray Media's WGEM station seeks a Meteorologist with a passion for weather and the ability to inform the public clearly. You will present forecasts for television and web, craft graphics, and contribute to daily editorial content.

Salary/Wage:

$19.25 - $19.50/hr. (based on experience)

Shift and Schedule:

Wed. - Fri. (9:00 am - 6:00 pm); Sat. - Sun. (2:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Job Summary/Description:

WGEM is looking for our next Meteorologist to join our team. If you have a passion for weather and a natural aptitude for sharing information about meteorology with the public, this position is for you!

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Prepare and present television weather forecasts and web content.
• Creatively use weather graphics systems.
• Maintain a positive newsroom atmosphere and adhere to professional standards.
• Substitute as needed on other weather segments.
• Work as a guide to outside groups touring the station.
• Attend editorial meetings with news staff throughout the day.
• Coordinate and deliver weather forecasts for radio partners, if applicable.
• Be on-call as needed during severe weather activity.
• Shoot, write, and edit content for our digital and broadcast platforms.
• During newscasts, you may be teamed with a photojournalist for active LIVE storytelling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in meteorology or similar certification.
• Ability to effectively communicate through written and spoken forms.
• Able to take initiative and work independently.
• Driver's license required
