Job summary

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Miami invites applications for a full-time tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, to begin August 2027. The area of specialization is Metaphysics or Epistemology, with an open area of competence. Candidates should pursue a vigorous research program and teach at graduate and undergraduate levels.

Ph.D. in philosophy or related field is required by start date.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field by the start date.
• Tenure-eligible appointment at Associate Professor or Professor.
• Area of Specialization: Metaphysics or Epistemology (broadly construed to include Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Mind, etc.).
• Area of Competence: Open; candidates working in more than one area are encouraged.
• Priority given to applications received by December 15.

Responsibilities

• Teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
• Pursue a vigorous research program at a level commensurate with an AAU institution.
• Take a full part in the normal activities of the department.
