Job summary

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Miami invites applications for a full-time tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, to begin August 2027. The area of specialization is Metaphysics or Epistemology, with an open area of competence. Candidates should pursue a vigorous research program and teach at graduate and undergraduate levels.

Ph.D. in philosophy or related field is required by start date.

Area of Specialization (AOS): Metaphysics or Epistemology (broadly construed to include Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Mind, etc.) Area of Competence (AOC): Open. The department seeks an established scholar who will pursue a vigorous research program of a level commensurate with an AAU institution, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and take a full part in the normal activities of the department. Candidates working in more than one area of specialization are especially encouraged to apply.

A Ph.D. (or an equivalent terminal degree) in philosophy or a closely related field is required by the time of the appointment start date.
