Job summary

McGaw YMCA is seeking a MetaMedia Program Coordinator to lead community-based MetaMedia programming, including registration-based programs, STEAM workshops, projects, showcases and events. You will collaborate with City of Evanston, Northwestern and District 65 to deliver engaging experiences for youth.

The role requires coordinating curriculum development, scheduling, and family engagement, with a focus on maker mindset and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to manage a team and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Mac OS and comfort with multiple STEM disciplines.
  • Experience working with teens (11–14) and underserved populations is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and iterate on program curriculum after completion.
  • Collaborate with MetaMedia team, McGaw YMCA staff, and NU partners.
  • Recruit youth to participate in programs and manage youth records.
  • Organize and showcase youth work online and offline.
  • Plan special events with support from MetaMedia team.
  • Represent YMCA values to staff and the public, including in-school partners.
  • Supervise mentors and volunteers.
  • Engage with families and youth regularly.

Job description

The MetaMedia Program Coordinator is responsible for all Community based MetaMedia programming. Including registration-based programs (MSX & After-School), implementation and developing STEAM based workshops, projects, showcases, and special events. The Coordinator will constantly assess program needs based on quarterly parent surveys, staff meetings, and “maker” feedback, ensuring all programs meet our maker mindset and skillsets. The manager is responsible for the delegation of curriculum development and scheduling based on the needs of the population served. Parent programming and family engagement are essential to this role and the Coordinator will work closely with part-time staff members to ensure communication with parents is clear and consistent. This position will work closely across McGaw departments and community partners including: The City of Evanston, Northwestern, and District 65.

Salary Range

$15.50 – $16.00 per hour

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday; some evenings and Saturdays

Essential Functions
  • Assess and iterate on program curriculum after their completion
  • Collaborate with MetaMedia team, McGaw YMCA staff, and NU partners
  • Recruit youth to participate in program
  • Keep youth work organized and stored
  • Organize and showcase youth work both on-line and using other platforms
  • Plan special events with the support of the MetaMedia team
  • Positively reflect YMCA’s mission, vision, and values to staff and the public, including working with our in-school partners
  • Consistent supervision with mentors and volunteers
  • Work closely with families and youth
  • Working with MetaMedia Management
  • Working closely with School Age Director and COO
  • Work closely with other members of the McGaw YMCA Team for various reasons (Lunch, Swimming, Repairs, Collaboration)
Experience/Education/Certification Requirements
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Ability to work calmly, under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Bachelors in library science, arts, communications, one of the STEM disciplines and/or a related field or significant youth development experience or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
  • Candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Experience working with teens (11-14)
  • Experience working with under engaged and underserved populations
  • Experience working with collaborative processes and structures
  • Proficiency with Mac operating systems
  • Proficiencies in more than one STEM discipline
