Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is seeking a Youth Development Site Supervisor to support Day Camp and School Age programs under the Day Camp and School Age Director. You will help with program development, ensure quality experiences, and supervise staff.

The role emphasizes age-appropriate activities, compliant records, and strong community relations with parents and affiliate programs, while promoting YMCA values and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet Child Care Licensing requirements including degree or DCF option.
  • CPR and First Aid must be completed before first day or within 3 months.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed prior to starting.
  • 2+ years experience in organized child programs.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • Reliable automobile and valid driver’s license with insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Directors in developing summer and school programs with emphasis on age-appropriate activities.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain records and reports per licensing requirements.
  • Manage materials and supplies needed for activities and snacks.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, families, and children; provide guidance and parent conferences.
  • Ensure participant care is a priority through supervision and staff support.
  • Collaborate with school administration to align programming with YMCA values.
  • Exhibit professional communication with staff and community; serve as a role model.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and evaluation of staff and program quality.
  • Follow regulations including licensing, and YMCA policies; mandatory reporter for child safety.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings; be available for opening/closing shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Day Campand School AgeDirector,Youth DevelopmentSite Supervisoris responsible for specific aspects of the summer campand school age programsincluding organization, implementation, and maintenance of program,participantdevelopment, staff development, and maintaining good public relations with parents, affiliate programs and participants. TheYouth DevelopmentSite Supervisorworks withdesignatedstaff toensurea high-quality experience.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
  • AssistDirectors intheoveralldevelopmentofsummer and schoolprogramswith an emphasis on age-appropriate programming.
  • Create, distribute, andmaintainaccuraterecords and reports in compliance with state licensingandprogramrequirementssuchassign-in/check-outsheets,snack and meal counts,lessonplans,children enrollment attendance sheets, newsletters, etc.
  • Manage and distribute all materials and supplies needed for planned activities andsnacks.
  • Develop positive relationships with the staff, families, and children while providing motivational support and guidance, including parent conferences and addressing complaints in a time efficient,courteousand patient manner using problem solving techniques.
  • Ensurethatthecareof participantsisakeyprioritythroughdirectsupervisionofthe programs and through support to staff.
  • Build a professional collaboration with school administration and staff to develop programming that aligns with school and YMCA values, policies, and procedures.
  • Exhibit andmaintainprofessionalcommunicationwithstaff, school staff, and community participants.Serve as a role modelforstaff and participants.
  • Assistwith the hiring, training,monitoringofdailyprogram quality standards and end-of-yearperformanceevaluations.
  • Understandandfollowallrelevant regulations including, but not limited tostatelicensing, YoungStar ,DCFstandards,CACFP/MCFIandYMCApolicies/manuals.
  • BecommittedtotheYMCAofMetropolitanMilwaukee’sChildAbuse/NeglectPrevention effortsasamandatoryreporterandalways uphold the core values of the YMCA.
  • Attend and all staff meetings and trainings asrequired.
  • Be available for opening and closing shifts.
  • Performotherdutiesasassigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mustbeatleast21yearsofage,possessahighschooldiplomaorequivalent.
  • Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirements including one of the following: bachelor’s degree in child development, education, sports and recreation or related field from an accredited college/university OR DCF equivalent approved courses and Registry level for position.
  • CPRandFirstAid,AbusiveHeadTraumamustbecompletedbeforethefirstday of camp or within three months from start date of school age program.
  • Mustcompletefingerprinting requirement priortoworkingfirstshift.
  • Musthave2+years’experienceworkinginanorganizedchildprogram.
  • Musthave2+ years supervisoryexperience.
  • Must have a reliable automobile, valid driver’s license with proof of insurance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Director in interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work: supervising and evaluating employees: addressing complaints and resolving problems. Communicate with the Director of staff performance issues in a timely manner and assist in addressing said issues.

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Child Safety:

This position may include a combination of in-office and remote work, based on operational needs. Workspace may be shared with other staff when on-site.
