Job summary

SGS Dayton, NJ laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Metals department. The technician prepares and disposes samples with accuracy per SGS SOPs, supports analysts to meet daily targets, and ensures hold and turnaround times are met while applying basic analytical chemistry principles.

Responsibilities include training, sample archival, routine operation and calibration of equipment, and maintaining the Laboratory Notebook.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemistry or related field preferred.
• Advanced English language skills required.
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• prepares and disposes samples according to SGS SOPs.
• Maintains sample archival and disposal per SGS SOPs.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Assists with investigations and responses to client inquiries and CARs.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Cross-training with other departments is expected.
