Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Paramount, CA is seeking a Metallurgist to supervise metallurgical processes, conduct data analysis, and implement continual improvements. You will communicate with customers and suppliers, perform root-cause analyses for nonconforming parts, and document metallurgical results to ensure compliance with aerospace specifications.

The role requires a B.S. in Materials Science with relevant manufacturing experience and knowledge of NADCAP/AS9001, AMS2750E pyrometry, and

Qualifications

Minimum B.S. in Materials Science with 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of aerospace alloys including Ni-based superalloys, Ti, Al, and steel.
Experience with heat treat and pyrometry; aerospace forging products preferred.
Knowledge of NADCAP/AS9001 and AMS2750E Pyrometry.
Familiarity with ASTM, ASM, AISI, SAE and MIL standards.
Experience with quality specifications from major aerospace customers.

Responsibilities

Supervise and plan metallurgical aspects of the process.
Conduct analysis to identify and implement continual improvement activities.
Represent the Company with customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies.
Perform root cause and corrective action analyses for nonconforming products.
Define forging temperatures, heat treat processing, and testing per customer specs.
Write metallurgical reports and manufacturing plans for customer approval.
Communicate with management and provide technical metallurgical support to QA.
