Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a skilled materials science professional to provide technical laboratory support for metallurgical research and failure analysis at its Houston campus. You will conduct materials research projects, apply metallographic and microscopic techniques, and perform hardness and NDE testing in a rigorous, safety-conscious lab environment. Requirements include a B.S.

or M.S. in materials science or metallurgy and at least 5 years of hands-on lab experience, with strong communication

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in materials science or metallurgy.
• Hands-on materials testing experience within a laboratory setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow lab procedures and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical laboratory support in metallurgical research and failure analysis.
• Work in a team to conduct materials research projects and plan testing.
• Apply metallographic and microscopic techniques (optical and SEM) for microstructural analysis.
• Conduct hardness, micro-hardness, and field hardness testing.
• Perform NDE methods (PT, MT, UT) in support of research and failure analysis.
• Sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing and etching of metallurgical samples.
• Conduct direct failure analyses to determine mechanisms and material properties.
• Maintain lab equipment, supplies, and spaces, including calibration.
• Follow safety procedures and ISO/GLP standards.
