Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a geologist/metallurgist to drive innovation in metallurgical processing for domestic critical materials production. The role collaborates with geologists, chemists, engineers, and scientists to develop feedstock beneficiation pathways and separations technologies, including AI applications to supply chains.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in geology or metallurgical engineering with 6+ years of experience or PhD with 4+ years.
• Experience engaging program sponsors at DOE, industry and other federal agencies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance (US citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct geological or geochemical field studies and sampling programs.
• Plan and execute research on novel comminution and beneficiation methods.
• Collaborate with geologists, chemists, engineers, and materials scientists to integrate feedstocks and processing methods.
• Pursue and secure funding through proposals and industry partnerships.
• Write peer‑reviewed publications and present at conferences and sponsors meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
