Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory's Department of Materials Science and Manufacturing seeks an experienced Materials Scientist, Materials Engineer, or Metallurgist at the Ph.D. or M.Sc. level to join our team in Idaho Falls.

The position emphasizes R&D in physical metallurgy, materials properties, and qualification of materials for military applications. The role requires leading multidisciplinary teams, developing novel manufacturing processes, and integrating AI and ICME into materials development.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited MSc with 6+ years post-MSc or PhD with 4+ years post-PhD for Level 4/5.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and managing large programs.
• DOE Q clearance eligibility and US citizenship are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead qualification and certification programs for armed services and defense platforms.
• Write proposals and secure funding for research initiatives.
• Develop new programs in materials science and engineering and guide laboratory teams.
