Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Laporte, IN, is seeking a metallurgical engineer to ensure the metallurgical integrity and cost performance of investment cast components used in aerospace and power generation. The role focuses on developing/refining casting processes, supporting manufacturing, and collaborating with customers to optimize castability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required before hire.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Export-controlled data access restrictions apply to this position.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop new and refine existing investment casting processes to reduce scrap, rework, and costs.
Support manufacturing in processing of castings through all operations.
Collaborate with customers to design components for castability.
Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.
Improve casting scrap and rework rates; reduce costs.
Develop casting processes for new products and manufacturing work instructions.
Assist sales in quoting new products and achieve cost targets for development and production castings.
Establish milestones for casting development and perform other duties as assigned.
