Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Process Engineer to join our advanced investment casting facility. You will be responsible for the metallurgical integrity and cost performance of a portfolio of investment cast components for aerospace and power generation.

The role involves developing new casting processes, reducing scrap and costs, supporting manufacturing, and working with customers to optimize castability while maintaining strong relationships inside the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years' work experience in an Engineering role (Co-Op or internship experience will be considered as work experience).
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, and refine existing, investment casting processes to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs.
  • Support manufacturing in the processing of castings through all operations.
  • Work concurrently with customers to design components for castability.
  • Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.
  • Maintain and improve casting scrap rates.
  • Maintain and improve casting rework rates.
  • Improve casting profitability through cost reductions.
  • Develop casting processes for new products.
  • Assist sales department in quotation of new products.

Responsibilities

Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team.Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in La Porte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.

Job Summary- This position will beresponsible for the metallurgical integrity and cost performance of a portfolio of investment cast, super alloy, aerospace and power generation components.

Essential Functions

  • Develop new, and refine existing, investment casting processes to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs.
  • Support manufacturing in the processing of castings through all operations.
  • Work concurrently with customers to design components for castability.
  • Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.

Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and improve casting scrap rates.
  • Maintain and improve casting rework rates.
  • Improve casting profitability through cost reductions.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions.
  • Develop casting processes for new products.
  • Assist sales department in quotation of new products.
  • Achieve cost targets for development and production castings.
  • Establish and achieve milestones for casting development.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 3years' work experience in an Engineering role (Co-Op or internship experience will be considered as work experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
