Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Laporte, IN is seeking a candidate responsible for the metallurgical integrity and cost performance of a portfolio of investment cast, super alloy, aerospace and power generation components.

You will develop new and refine existing casting processes to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs, while supporting manufacturing and collaborating with customers on castability. Qualifications include enrollment in a bachelors degree program and the absence of visa

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and achieve a bachelors degree from an accredited institution before hire date.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Access to export-controlled items; offers conditioned on ability to lawfully access such items.

Responsibilities

• Maintain metallurgical integrity and cost performance for investment cast, super alloy, aerospace and power generation components.
• Develop and refine investment casting processes to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs.
• Support manufacturing in processing of castings through all operations.
• Collaborate with customers to design components for castability.
• Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues.
• Maintain and improve casting scrap rates and rework rates.
• Improve casting profitability through cost reductions.
• Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions.
• Develop casting processes for new products.
• Assist sales in quotation of new products.
• Achieve cost targets for development and production castings.
• Establish milestones for casting development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
