Job summary

RTX is seeking an onsite Metallurgical Specialist in Asheville, NC to perform metallographic evaluation and produce precise lab reports. You will monitor processes, maintain records, and interact with engineering and manufacturing teams on technical matters.

Requirements include a B.S. in Materials Science/Metallurgy and at least 2 years in metallurgical testing, with SAP experience. The role may require occasional off-shift work and a 4x10 shift schedule.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of metallurgical testing, evaluation, inspection or microscopy experience.
• US citizenship required due to government contracts.
• Experience with SAP and data/documentation management.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of processes including aluminides coating, EDM, weld, braze, grinding used in blade and vanes airfoils.
• Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports; maintain records and sample residue retention.
• Monitor testing frequency of all processes and develop evaluation sheets for tested parts.
• Interacts with engineering, manufacturing, and materials teams on routine technical matters.
• Investigate parts/process related problems and support audits and source qualification surveys.
