Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Sales Engineer to engage with customers via phone and email, working with internal and external partners to tailor metal product solutions. You will review prints and CAD files, assess tolerances, materials, and processing options to shape the supply chain and pricing for customer projects.

The role requires 1–3 years of metal sales experience, CAD or drafting familiarity, and strong MS Office abilities; SAP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of sales experience in the metal industry.
• Print reading required; CAD or drafting experience a plus.
• Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
• MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
• Working knowledge of geometry and strong math skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and qualify customer-provided documents such as prints, CAD files, and specifications.
• Understand tolerances, materials, specifications, and processing options for a robust metal supply chain.
• Manage part-specific supply chains using internal and external assets to meet quality and delivery targets.
• Estimate material, labor, and delivery options and develop contract pricing templates based on awarded work.
• Evaluate sales proposals to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with quality standards.
• Conduct technical analysis of product configurations to determine customer-specific prices.
• All other duties as assigned.
