Position Scope
We are seeking an experienced Metal Estimator to join our store fixture manufacturing team. This position is responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for metal store fixtures and displays by interpreting customer drawings and specifications, determining materials and manufacturing processes, obtaining supplier pricing, and evaluating labor and outside services. This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and other internal teams to develop accurate costs and support successful project execution. The ideal candidate is more than someone who can simply complete an estimate and move on to the next one. We are looking for a self-motivated, engaged leader who takes ownership of their work, speaks up, asks questions, challenges assumptions, and takes initiative to solve problems and improve the way we estimate and execute projects.
Position Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for metal store fixtures, displays, components, and related products.
- Review and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, floorplans, specifications, BOMs, and customer requirements.
- Determine appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, labor requirements, outside services, and purchased components required to produce a project.
- Perform material takeoffs and evaluate material utilization, scrap, and manufacturing requirements.
- Estimate costs associated with fabrication processes such as cutting, forming, welding, assembly, finishing, and other value-added operations.
- Obtain, analyse, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Research material and component pricing and maintain an understanding of current market costs.
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to identify cost drivers, resolve estimating questions, and develop effective solutions.
- Identify potential estimating, manufacturing, or project risks and communicate them proactively.
- Review designs and specifications with a manufacturing mindset and identify opportunities to improve cost, manufacturability, or efficiency.
- Manage multiple estimates and competing priorities while meeting demanding deadlines.
- Maintain accurate estimating information and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating methods, processes, tools, and standards.
- Take ownership of assigned projects from initial review through completion of the estimate.
- Actively participate in team discussions, provide ideas and recommendations, and speak up when something does not appear correct or when a better approach may exist.
- Maintain a professional image and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Qualifications
- Ability to research, analyse, and evaluate information to prepare accurate estimates.
- Experience in manufacturing estimating, metal fabrication, store fixture manufacturing, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, floorplans, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of metal materials, fabrication processes, and manufacturing methods.
- Knowledge of material pricing and supplier/subcontractor costs.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other computer-based estimating or business systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet short deadlines.
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative without waiting to be directed.
- Demonstrates leadership through actions, initiative, accountability, and follow-through.
- Comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and respectfully challenging assumptions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical education or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant manufacturing or estimating experience preferred.
