Job summary

The Sumner-Lab at the UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute seeks a Metabolomics Assistant to conduct metabolomics analysis in Kannapolis, NC. The role supports the lab manager with biospecimen prep, data acquisition, processing and documentation of all lab procedures.

Responsibilities include reagent handling, inventory, safety compliance, and using software for data processing and statistics, with opportunities to contribute to literature reviews, presentations, and manuscripts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated competencies to perform the work.
• Preference for experience in a laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of metabolic processes and spectrometry is desirable.
• Experience conducting literature reviews.
• Experience preparing slides and posters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct metabolomics analysis in the Sumner-Lab.
• Assist the lab manager with biospecimen preparation.
• Perform data acquisition and processing of metabolomics data.
• Document all laboratory procedures.
• Handle storage and disposal of reagents; order supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and university guidelines.
• Use software to process data and perform hypothesis testing and statistics.
• Contribute to literature reviews, presentations, and manuscripts.
