Job summary

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced MES Controls Engineer to support high-volume discrete manufacturing operations. The role focuses on MES, PLC integration, real-time production execution, and automation system reliability across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC/HMI.
Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
Experience with manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
Knowledge of plant-floor communication protocols.
Ability to analyze and resolve complex production and system integration issues.

Responsibilities

Support MES-to-PLC integrations during launches, ramp-ups, and ongoing operations.
Configure and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems.
Integrate MES template routines and UDTs into PLC programs.
Create, modify, and maintain PLC tags and logic for MES transactions and production reporting.
Collaborate with Process Engineers and MES teams to ensure successful integration.
Document MES-related PLC modifications, troubleshooting activities, and production support.
Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and industrial network issues affecting MES functionality.
Support real-time production reporting and manufacturing data integrity.
Assist in resolving production issues impacting throughput and quality.
Identify opportunities to improve MES functionality and automation performance.
Support MES enhancements, software updates, and system upgrades.
