Job summary

Mercury Marine, Fond du Lac, WI, Advanced Manufacturing co-op, is a hands-on role in the Global Operations Excellence division. You will assist with CAD modeling, simulations, ETL/data analytics, BI tools, and robotics/automation across plants.

You'll collaborate with engineers, learn lean practices, and develop data-driven recommendations while gaining exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts and manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a BS program with a relevant engineering or data emphasis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Full co-op term May–December 2027; 40+ hours per week.
  • US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management, manufacturing, automation, quality, and process engineers.
  • Interact with automation equipment like robots and PLCs.
  • Connect, collect, and analyze data from operation equipment.
  • Work with Power BI, SQL, MS Azure, and CAD tools.

Position Overview:

As part of the talented Advanced Manufacturing team / Global Operations Excellence division, you will get to work on: CAD Modeling, Simulation, 3D Printing ETL/Data Analytics and BI tools Robotics and Automation This position will be integral in supporting manufacturing engineering technologies across different operational plants.

Essential Functions:
  • Work with full-time team members located in multiple operational plants, assisting with projects and analysis
  • Collaborate with Management, Manufacturing, Automation, Quality, and Process Engineers across the business
  • Interact and program various types of automation equipment like robots, PLC's, servos
  • Connect, collect, and analyze data from different types of operational equipment
  • Exposure to and assist with various types of Simulation work
  • Work with tools like Power BI, SQL, MS Azure Suite, CAD
In addition to a great hands-on learning experience, you will also acquire the skills needed to:
  • Understand manufacturing systems and the technical problems that exist in operations
  • Understand Continuous Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) and Connected Operations (Industry 4.0, IIoT, Machine Learning) implemented in a highly vertically integrated manufacturing environment
  • Present findings and recommendations to operational management
  • Interpret manufacturing prints and quality requirements
  • Analyze data and make recommendations that effectively improve process costs
  • Effectively express your ideas, influence people and communicate with employees at all levels of an organization (hourly and salary)
Required Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science or a relevant degree with an Engineering or Data Emphasis
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Self-starter and highly motivated to learn
  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits
  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) through a full co-op term running May to December 2027
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Permanent US Work Authorization required

Project Work: The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Student co-ops or interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization’s goals. This may range from supporting larger projects to handling smaller, individual assignments. Hours: Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement. The anticipated pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
