Job summary

Walmart's Sam's Club Travel is seeking a Merchant who develops and executes category strategies that drive growth and profitability across Hotels, Flights, Packages, and more. You will manage pricing, promotions, and assortment while partnering across teams to align supply chain and customer experience initiatives.

You will lead profit and loss, negotiate with suppliers, and guide team development to meet strategic objectives using data analytics and market insights.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of travel industry expertise across multiple categories.
• Experience in category strategy development and execution for complex categories.
• Strong financial management including P&L ownership and forecasting.
• Supplier management and negotiations to drive profitability.
• Ability to analyze market trends and customer behavior.
• Proficiency in assortment planning, promotions, and ecommerce.

The Merchant manages financial performance, supplier negotiations, and team development to meet strategic objectives. Utilizing data analytics and market insights, the position ensures competitive positioning and operational excellence. The role demands strong leadership, decision-making, and project management skills to deliver results aligned with company goals and customer expectations.

• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with long-term business objectives, incorporating market trends and customer insights.

What you'll bring:

• Minimum 5 years of of travel industry expertise with knowledge across a broad set of categories (e.g. Hotels, Flights, Packages, Wholesale, Rental Car, Transfers, Cruise, Tickets)
• Proven experience in category strategy development and execution for highly complex categories.
• Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership and forecasting.
• Expertise in supplier management and negotiation to drive price leadership and profitability.
• Ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform decisions.
• Proficiency in assortment planning, promotional strategies, and ecommerce.
• Skilled in leveraging data and digital tools to influence strategic initiatives and improve efficiency.
• Effective decision-making and project management skills aligned with business objectives.
