Job summary

Cart.com seeks a detail-oriented Merchant of Record Accountant to own MoR accounting operations across brands, ensuring accurate processing, settlements, and tax compliance. You will oversee reconciliations, control frameworks, and financial reporting, driving efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 3-7 years of experience in payments operations, accounting, or related fields in e-commerce/tech.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience analyzing large datasets.
• Working knowledge of SQL and reporting analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across brands.
• Review, validate, and approve high-value transactions and settlements per thresholds and controls.
• Monitor and resolve payment exceptions including refunds, holds, and chargebacks.
• Maintain transaction-level review processes to minimize errors and leakage.
• Serve as primary liaison for payment processing, settlements, reconciliations, and tax compliance.
• Support month-end close activities and prepare journal entries.
• Develop scalable procedures, automation, and internal controls.
