Job summary

Staples is seeking a Merchandising Analyst to manage SKU lifecycles, master assortment tracking, and cross-unit communication for item forecasts and new items.

You will support cross-functional teams, run sales and margin reports, and analyze vendor performance to identify opportunities for improvement. This entry-level role emphasizes collaboration, data accuracy, and process efficiency.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, or a related field; upcoming December 2026 graduate
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in business or a related field preferred
• Ability to convey thoughts and ideas both verbally and in writing
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Previous experience working independently and executing across multiple groups

Responsibilities

• Manage SKU lifecycle: setup, maintenance, inactivations, RTVs; partner with content and inventory.
• Manage Master Assortment tracker for all items across BUs; provide SKU changes so channels know active assortment.
• Communicate new items and forecasts across BU counterparts, Inventory & Planning, own brand, and vendor management.
• Identify and track matches for ALT products with merch ops.
• Become system expert; run reports on sales, margin, vendor purchases, BU performance, and ad hoc reporting.
• Analyze vendor and assortment finances; recommend opportunities to improve performance.
• Process and communicate cost increases via PCW with vendors or own brand.
• Handle high-volume field inquiries; provide fast, problem-solving support.
• Communicate with Distribution and Wholesaler teams to identify gaps and add new items to Master assortment cost-effectively.
• Support Merchandising and generalist sales with RFPs and proposals.
• Support merchant execution to deliver vendor and category strategies.
