Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking a Merchandise Assistant Manager to join our Store Manager in leading a dynamic team and creating positive experiences for the community we serve. You’ll focus on merchandising and processing freight while assisting with store operations.

Responsibilities include opening/closing procedures, asset protection, maintaining clean facilities, and ensuring a high-energy, safe environment for customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Prior retail and management experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Must be able to lift between 30 and 50 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and perform related physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Protect and secure company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to all policies and safety guidelines
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store and restrooms
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Assist Store Manager with additional duties as assigned
• Process receipt and return of DSD merchandise
• Manage freight flow according to productivity standards
• Stock merchandise needs, including frozen & refrigerated items
• Ensure the sales floor remains sales-effective
• Plan and merchandise Clip Strips and Power Panels
• Plan and implement monthly Sales Planners
