Merchandising Assistant Store Manager, in Training

Position Purpose

The Merchandising Assistant Store Manager in Training (MASM-IT) will gain hands-on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Specialty Assistant Store Manager at The Home Depot. The program includes mentorship, leadership development, and comprehensive training. Throughout the training, MASMs will learn to oversee various Merchandising departments (Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical) to ensure excellent customer service, product availability, and store presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Experience (15%): Supervise associates, lead store culture, drive customer service, and resolve customer concerns effectively.
• Operations Management (10%): Perform opening/closing duties, adhere to policies, ensure safety compliance, and manage store operations.
• Safety (10%): Follow all safety and hazardous material procedures for self and associates.
• Sales and Productivity (15%): Plan merchandise placement, support inventory management, and learn to operate store systems.
• Training and Preparation (50%): Participate in a structured program covering store management, sales, staffing, customer service, and performance management. Complete all training modules and assessments.

Reporting and Travel

• Typically reports to the Store Manager.
• Minimal travel required, less than 5% overnight.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Stand, walk, lift moderate weights (8-20 lbs).
• Indoor, comfortable environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
