Job summary

SpartanNash in Indianapolis seeks a Merchandiser, Fresh, Independent to manage wholesale sales and gross profit for the fresh category across assigned stores. Build relationships with independent customers and execute merchandising and marketing plans. Requires Bachelor's in Business, 2 years in marketing/category management, and experience purchasing in retail.

Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint; willing to travel up to 100%. Produce experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business admin or related field; MBA preferred.
• Two years of marketing, category management, product management or development experience.
• Experience purchasing in a retail or wholesale environment.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; willingness to travel up to 100%.
• Experience in Produce is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure stores meet sales and profit objectives while executing merchandising programs.
• Review Category Management plans and adjust for local conditions; coordinate with Sales and retailers.
• Monitor store performance and profitability; analyze new and existing products.
• Analyze category data and train others to use it to increase sales.
• Collaborate with managers, vendors and distributors to support programs, including resets.
• Advise on assortment decisions to optimize category support.
• Serve as local information source for assigned categories and influence team results.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
