Job summary

SpartanNash is hiring to maintain and operate the produce department, including trimming and preparation of merchandise, to support the store's financial goals. You will cut, weigh, label, and merchandise produce and floral displays while assisting with deliveries and stocking.

Customer service and suggestive selling will be part of daily duties. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma (GED) and at least a year of retail experience, with the ability to read, write, and handle basic math.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed; follow established procedures for culling, trimming and storing product.
• Weigh, package and label products.
• Handle spoiled/damaged products per established guidelines.
• Properly fill, rotate and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases and displays; assist with unloading deliveries and stacking product in coolers.
• Notify the Manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain clean, attractive and well stocked departments.
• Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines and Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need.
